More Gun Ownership Does Not Mean More Crime

"Gun sales have risen by twelve percent nationally over the last three years..." and violent crime is at a 37 year low.

How many times have we heard politicians (especially in places like Chicago and New York) say there will be blood in the streets if we allow people to "carry guns" (translated: be able to defend themselves)?
