A chainsaw was used to cut open the front door, no announcement that they were law enforcement until after they busted in the door.
That is justification to shoot in self defense. If that were to occur, the occupant would have been murdered with hundreds of rounds of AR-15 fire.
This kind of no-knock law enforcement activity puts the homeowner in a very difficult position: he doesn't know if the people breaking into his house are law enforcement or criminal home-invaders (not to say that the law enforcement agents aren't criminal in their intent and actions). So the homeowner must wait until after the home invaders are all the way in so that he can make a positive identification that the home invaders are non-government criminals before attempting to defend himself. This leaves him very vulnerable to getting shot by the non-government home invaders.
It also makes the homeowner vulnerable to getting shot by "law enforcement" because it could be very likely that the homeowner would be holding a firearm in preparation to defending himself and that would trigger a murderous response by law enforcement. They are trained to empty their magazines if they see anyone with a gun, no matter if it may not be pointing at them.
